My Story:

My advocacy journey started in my teens when I discovered I was passionate about helping others. I have worked in many different fields of advocacy including homeless and abused children, domestic violence, urban youth leadership, and most recently, disability. When my son was born in October 2012, my world was turned upside down. He was diagnosed at birth with Down syndrome. Our stay in the hospital was longer than expected. He got a ticket into the NICU at day 1 and getting a ticket out proved to be more difficult. This is when I knew that advocating for him, and others like him was not only my passion but now my mission.
Since that time, I worked as a Case Manager for individuals with disabilities of all ages. However, my passion remains focused on education advocacy. I desire to empower parents of children with disabilities to know their rights and how to best collaborate and advocate for their child's needs.
My experience in my personal and professional life have allowed me to experience many sides of advocacy. This lends itself to greater insight into what is required to work together for the benefit of our children.
I look forward to working with you to help your child and the entire IEP team be wildly successful as well as navigate challenging situations with optimal outcomes for your child's wellbeing and education.
