Teacher/Caregiver One Page Template

One major concern parents when entering school with a new team/teachers is that we want to be sure that everyone sees who our child(ren) really are. A great way to do this is by creating a 'one pager' for those who work with you child. This is an eye catching, easy to read bullet points of information to highlight who your child is both academically and personally.

I find that having sections can help teachers utilize this page including our vision for our child, strengths, what works for me, what doesn't work for me, what they are working on and what they love. These are pretty easy to make and extremely valuable to the team.

Peer One Page Template

Helping peers understand our kids with disabilities and have the opportunity to be a good friend to others is a huge part of how to help Inclusion work.

I have found that making a page like this one is helpful to have the teacher pass out to classmates (whole grade level is best for Elementary age, maybe a team in middle school) to give classmate's parents some basic information about your child's disability and contact information for you to field questions. I am of the belief that I would much rather any honest question than assumptions that perpetuate stereotypes and misunderstandings.

I have gotten very positive feedback each year from other parents glad to have the opportunity and tool to talk with their children about differences and how to be a good friend
